I'm Julia, and I'm very pleased to see you here!
I've been arranging flowers for more than 10 years, and I started "Hey, Bud!" in 2012. Though currently based in Los Angeles, I've lived all over the place, and have provided flowers for events and individual clients in Canada, the UK, and throughout Southern California. Flower arranging has always been second nature to me. It’s how I relax, but it also stimulates my creativity. I studied Art History at University of Toronto, and earned my Master’s in the same subject at Oxford. I’ve worked in various museums, both behind-the-scenes in curatorial offices and in outreach and education departments. My interests in history and art have helped to shape my inspiration and references in my work with flowers, in composition and color placement. I love experimenting with color palettes and under-appreciated flowers, and I always try to include some sort of symbolism in each bouquet or arrangement. I believe in arranging flowers in a way that allows each one to look its best, and I love using unexpected color combinations and add-ins to create arrangements that are interesting from every angle and provide little surprises the closer you look!
I've always believed that flowers shouldn't be reserved only for special occasions. I work closely with clients to create bespoke florals with a focus on personal details. I prioritize professionalism, attention to detail, fulfilling customers’ needs, and working within a given budget (no matter the size!)
My own personal floral style tends to be quite organic and natural -- English country garden meets the vibrancy and exuberance of casual California. I use locally-grown, seasonal flowers whenever possible, and I love collaborating directly with growers.
Please feel free to contact me for any floral needs. Let's have a cup of tea and discuss the relative merits of roses vs. peonies!
